Lets look at various simple ways how you can warm up before a cardio or weight workout at the gym or at home.

If you have booked yourself in for a weight lifting session at the gym you also need to warm up before you train each muscle group. The best way to do this is to do a set of much lighter weights then you would usually lift. So lets say if you are training your biceps and you usually do 3 sets of 8 reps with 10kg weights then you should drop lets say to 5kg for the warm up session and do 3 sets of 8-10 reps before starting with the heavy weights. You can use this warm up technique for any of the muscle groups you are going to train at the gym. If you want to get that heart racing before getting into weights you can also try a 2-5 minute jump rope exercise which will for sure get that blood flowing through your veins and give will get you pumped for the heavy lifting.
The list of warm up exercises and routines is never ending and there will surely be something out there that will suit you the best from everything else. The important thing is to get your blood flowing, your body and mind used to the exercises to come before you get into it properly. Preparing yourself for whats ahead will improve your performance and endurance through the workout session and most importantly will prevent you from getting injured.
