We all love sugar. Sugar makes everything look and taste so much better and hard to resist. Sugar might taste great and a big piece of chocolate cake might give you a big feeling of satisfaction, but do you actually know how bad refined sugar is for you and your health?

Here are few reasons you should really consider cutting down on that refined sugar.

1. Immune System

Consuming a lot of refined sugar will affect your immune system which will decrease the effectivity with which your body fights bacteria which will lead to you being ill more often then you would like to.

2. Blood Sugar

Consumption of high levels of refined sugars affects your bodies capability to regulate blood sugar levels which can lead to hyperglycaemia, insulin resistance and diabetes. Sugar can also cause damage to your blood vessels and internal organs including your heart.

3. Your Waistline 

Sugar highly affects your weight. So if you are trying to loose few pounds, but still consume a lot of refined sugar on daily basis STOP IT RIGHT NOW! Sugar causes weight gain by causing insulin resistance and also resistance to leptin hormone which is responsible for signalling the brain we have had enough to eat and stops us from becoming obese.

4. Skin

Not only sugar is bad for your weight it also is very harmful to your skin. High levels of sugar in your body will cause your body to fight against it which in turn can cause inflammation on your skin which we call spots. Sugar also attaches itself to collagen, the protein responsible for keeping the skin smooth and flexible. When collagen is weighed down by glucose the skin starts to loose its flexibility and firmness which will cause sagging skin and wrinkles.

5. Minerals

Sugar prevents your body from consuming the needed amount of minerals necessary for your health. It also drains magnesium  which is required by every cell in your body to function properly.
